The Wearers of the Nine White pearls are definitely the most sought after women in the world! ALWAYS imitated, crazy complicated Sorors of DST! Did I say crazy complicated? Complicated as in maintaining above average standards? GPA's? Community service? Complicated as in trying to screen 50-200 applicants? Let me explain. I've read the letters here and this is what I come up with. The Deltas at Beta have not been what they were since 1996. The Deltas have not taken in women who consider themselves to have standards. The Deltas are not approachable HOWEVER, The Deltas are STILL better than all the others. EVERYONE STILL wants to be a Delta - NOT AKA, ZETA OR SGRho's. Deltas still do more than everyone on the yard. People are leaving Wilberforce saying DELTA is the greatest in the world!!! I have a problem with anyone who wants to be a Delta at Wilberforce and writes their sob-story on their cite. If you couldn't level with a Delta, IN HER FACE, there's a problem. What you have done is so blatantly disrespectful. Words cannot even expres my state right now. If you want my attention, want me to address issues with my sorors, you tell me they have terrible grades, tell me they have not done any community service. Tell the world how bad things really are on issues that matter. But instea , we woman have chosen to talk about things to hurt each other. There's no need to worry though, some have made it quite clear that they are GOING to be DELTAS. Good. Come to my ALUMNAE chapter! I'll be SURE to look for any applicants coming out of Wi berforce. This disrespectful foolishness has got to stop!! Just suppose I am an Alumnae member and didn't get into my undergrad chapter. Let's wonder why. Maybe Everyone wanted to be Deltas and I never took the time to get to know any of them. How we e they suppose to vote for me when I didn't know them? Or let's suppose I was going through a transitional period in my life. UNdergraduate life is funny - short and potent. I learned about life during those years. I must say, there were some Deltas t at I didn't care for either, but you know what? No matter what there was to say about them, they were the bomb!! Highest GPA's 3 outta 4 years, chapter of the year two years, community service of the year. Woman of the year, EVERY YEAR!!! They were my role models. I left saying, "no, maybe I couldn't get down with this person or that person" but by God, I need to see about DELTA SIGMA THETA!! Being pretty was not my greatest asset and so I told the AKA's "SORRY" I would have quicker kept it real with a Delta - in a heartbeat. They were people. BUT some of you ladies have LOST YOUR MINDS!!!!! Once again wilberforce graduates, please don't come to my chapter.... I'll let you all wait and find out where, since you know soo much. I have over 200,000 sorors! Because we're the largest, we are under the most scrutiny. We don't need hateful individuals. I love Delta too much! Sorors at Beta, My I suggest a DID to discuss these issues. And please screen these letters before they go out!!!! Delta Love, ALWAYS, Deltas in cyberspace

K-G - 04/01/00 04:19:18
My Email:y2kaylene@hotmail.com

Comments:
First off I wanted to say that the webpage is tight! Good job on the graphics, done by a certain someone who always wants me to 'smile' =). Second, I want to know why isnt the website on the Wilberforce Univ. "Student Organizations" page. Third, I am a fr shman here at Wilberforce. When I came here I knew little about the Greek life. But I knew enough that helped me get through my first college party at the "Barn". Before I left home for college my cousin (who is a Delta) asked me my interests. I tried pla ing basketball but that fell through. I tried the so-called "band" but that fell through also. After speaking with her I'm still trying to find my niche or my reason to be here and I believe that it is Delta. I have done my research and I feel that this i the organization for me. Also a site that opened my eyes: http://www.deltasigmatheta.com/prospect.htm AND I AM NOT KISSING UP EITHER!! (Although I want to say thanks DST for the pizza party for the second floor, 2Skew!) As for the negative comments on this guestbook I just want to say that people on here have too much time on their hands to even be putting negative comments on here. If you want to handle something personal, then do it personal. Arguing on the WWW is chil ish. I still can't believe some of the comments that are on here but I will not believe them. Actions speak louder than words. That is what I was taught. I don't know what the problem is but although I do not see many of the Deltas on campus, they have lives you know. But when I do see them they are doing something positive on campus or walking with their heads on straight, showing great pride. If anyone is feeling what I am feeling then please email me at: y2kaylene@hotmail.com I will be emailing this site to many of my friends that are interested in DST. Second, I would like to comment on all the negative comments some of you ladies who are at my "Alma Mater" are saying about Beta Chapter. First, this website was not created for you to ven or divulge your negative feelings. This website was created for the "Beta Sorors" & "Delta Sorors" to communicate with each other. If you feel this way and you are presently on the campus, then maybe you should address the issues personally with the Del a's to even find out why you were not selected with a 3.2 GPA. I can not and will not believe that the ladies of Beta are acting this way. There was a legacy that was there when I was at W.U. up until I graduated Spr. 85. I would want to believe that thi legacy is still in "Force". Now, getting to the name dropping, I don't think that was appropriate. You have Delta's viewing this website from other chapters, not to include who may be viewing from the grad and national chapters. For the 2 names that you ave constantly dropped, I can give you at least 15 that you probably have never even heard of that were nothing, no where near what you described from Beta Chapter. First, Ms.Bonita H. (Ms. Southern Comfort) who was an R.A. after she entered Beta Land. I stayed in her room on the first floor nearly everyday when I was on campus. I ate and slept there, and she even had enough trust in me to leave me in her room when she had to leave. If I needed to take a nap between classes and she wasn't there, I could g and look for her to get her door key. That is the type of relationship that we had. However, when she needed her privacy to conduct her Beta Chapter Business, I respected her and did not question her. She would even bring the pledgees around me. She was ne of the most down to earth, sweetest young ladies that I had met. You can best believe, if I had any type of problem, I could go and talk to Bonita. If I am not mistaking, at that particular time, she was the "Baby of Beta", but had the heart like a gen ine mother. In fact, some of us looked up to her as our "mom" while we were on campus. She did not have a mean streak in her body, and would look out for everyone. But, when it came down to "Beta", she meant business, and we all new it. We did not bother er at those times. Next, we have Yvette Hall and Joy Tyler who kept me in the Delta House in Timpkin Court nearly everyday. Some of the visiting Delta's thought I was a Delta, because I stayed there so much. If it was late during the evening, and I didn't fell like walking back to the dorms, I could stay there overnight and go back to the dorms the next morning. We almost did everything together and had fun. Also, Ms. Donna Warfield who was my roommate when we lived on E. 3rd St. She too was like a mother, she was a very good friend to talk to. I can even remember staying up late at night just talking about a lot of things. When I had trouble with my classes, Donna made sure I understood and looked for me everytime I had a computer programming or statistics test with Mr. Deering to make sure I passed! When she graduated, I don't know who cried the most me or her. Then there was Kim T. McKinney, Shay Curry, De De Warfield, Jennifer Bonner, Linda Saunders, Phyllis Epps, Paulette Forbes, and Dauphine Ross, all f who had very dear friends outside of Delta. Some of them were even friends with me. I can remember Shay and I hugging and crying on the steps of Shorter Hall after we graduated, not knowing if we would ever see each other again. In fact we have not seen each other since that day April 12, 1985. Now, how about that! Last but not least, there were some mothers, Romelle Roper, Donna Benn and Angela Parker all who exemplified what not only sisterhood, but motherhood was all about. These young ladies managed o uphold the legacy of Delta, maintain their education and "raised" there children with dignity and pride. It appears that there is more of a personal problem with the young ladies that you are speaking of. My question to you is, did you in fact get to k ow them before they entered Delta Land or were they already Delta's when you arrived. I must admit, there were Delta's on the yard that did not seem approachable, but once you got to know who they really were, they were human beings such as we were. They weren't as bad as others made them out to be. So before you name drop and offer negative opinions, approach one and let them know that you are interested. Tell them what you have to offer and what you would like to do for the organization in order to kee the negativity where it belongs, in the minds of "small minded people". It is a lot of hard work becoming a part of a Greek Organization and that is not only speaking for the Delta's. Maybe Beta Chapter is not for you and maybe you will be better off jo ning a local or grad Chapter. Weigh all your options. There are some good Delta's from Beta Chapter, I know because I know plenty. Remember this website was not designed for you or your negative input. Hell, if you feel that bad, get a "petition", have al the ladies with the comments sign it, and all of you go to the Delta House and let them answer your questions and concerns one on one. Now, let's see how brave you really are. Remember, you should have bravery if you want to enter into Beta. Don't player hate, graduate---then pledge other chapters if this is want you really want!!!!!! So, I say to you, don't you dare shatter my memories of the Beta chapter Delta's, I experienced some genuine friendships there. Maybe you are mixing business with pleasure o have a misconception of what taking care of business is all about. Get to know these ladies before you bash them!!! They may turn out to be one of your best friends. So, there you go, this is my memory of Beta chapter. Can you get one????????

Monet - 11/16/99 08:55:44
My Email:monetgarrette@hotmail.com

Comments:
Hello ladies. Beta Chapter. I feel that a lot of your comments do have some validity and some of your comments do not have validity. If you have a question, comment, or concern pertaining to the ladies of this repective organization, then you need to go to them on a personal level. These comments are viewed by persons whom have graduated and maybe even national officers. These comments are really inappropriate and could hurt the chapter, rather than help improve the chapter. We all do need to understand, that the ladies of Beta chapter are people too. They are entitled to have bad days as well as not wanting to be bothered. If you have proof on what you are saying to be true then appro ch and not humiliate and insult these ladies. College is a time of growing up and transition. Being a member into any organizaton, whether it be greek or social will help you realize who you are as an African Ameican woman. We really do need to realize that the ladies of Beta chapter have lives and do not need to be seen on campus, to prove who they are to us.

none - 11/15/99 23:48:43
My Email:keeping_it_real@hotmail.com

Comments:
I would just like to start off and say that DST is the greatest in the whole world. It really pains me to see how many people on this campus is really hurt, becasue certain DST memebers thought they were not good enough for there organzation. Not look at yall ! should of been so pickie!! beta chapter has not been the same since spring line 95, and half of spring 96 ( Tahira, Laletha, ) has left and that is so sad. But I must say that Emffany Holmes is trying to hold it up but, she can not do it by her self. She is what a true a Delta women i and will always be!!! Tisha Brooks is also a hard worker, but she can not do it by her self either. Beta chapter, other Deltas you need to look at this, and check out what is going on. And i know spring 95, is just ick about, but the sad thing about it is that they know it is true. When I was a freshman the first Greek I met was Tahira. She was real, she carried herself like a woman, and juke did not come out of her mouth. I d dn't know that she was a Delta and frankly I did not know about Greekdom...soon I found out. I read the history of A.K.A., ZPhiB and, SGRho but Delta's played in mind over and over like a movie. I still do not understand why a woman like myself (and ple ty of others on campus) is not a Delta yet. I have over a 3.2 G.P.A., I carry myself like a woman and I have been volunteering since I was 14 years old. My attitude is fare better than someone of the presence members. I'm also outgoing...so can you tel me why I am not apart of an organization that has those statues? It is sad to say this about Delta members (I know everyone is not perfect) on my yard but why take something so precious and turn it around 360 degrees to fit your wants. It pisses me off o no end that people like Kiesha Lash is in Delta. From my understanding all she saw was pink and green in the beginning. She was heavily influence by someone of importance in her life. Yes I am bitter...bitter because Beta does not care for DST like I o! They took the principals and flipped them around and all that is left is a fraction of what the divine 10 build. It pains me to see these Delta everyday not giving a rat's ass and who ever commented on confronting them...there is no way. I'm sure everybody wants to see who all the complaints are about. Before I say anything I am not an outsider looking in. I was on the inside for a short period of time so what I'm about to say is the truth no more no less. I attend Wilberforce University and I am a senior. When I came to W.U. I didn't know anything about greek life. So I did my research on all the sororities here. I participated in and supported all of their functions. And the one that always came out on top was Delta. I can't say that their programs were better than any of the other, it was the women that were and still are members of this wonderful organization that caught my attention. These mem ers were apart of several other organizations not just DST. These women worked hard and maintained 3.0 GPA's or better. They were well known to the students, faculty, staff and the community. These sista truly worked hard to represent DST. Now this is where things start to fall apart. After the last members of Spr. 95 and Spr. 96 graduated, everything went down hill. Let's start with Spr. 97 line "6 will get cha 20". Hell, which no one has yet to see. Most of them were whores and air heads. I bet Ma ima doesn't know which one of her sands was doing her man the same time she was.( food for thought Ms.Hall). If anybody has had a negative impact on this sorority it has been her. She has an attitude problem that is out of this world. She places jugdem nt on people that she doesn't know (I know she did it to me). That is not what sisterhood is all about. You guys say that you don't need a t-shirt wearers or steppers. But hell that is the only time you see her; at a party stepping or at the store with a t-shirt on because you sure as hell don't see her on campus! Now lets' move on to Spr. 98 line "Clueless". The name speaks for itself. None of these girls (with the exception of one) knew a damn thing about Delta or what it took to be a Delta. Hell 5 wanted to be an AKA. Delta Sigma Theta is an organization that will always be in my heart but the ladies of Beta chapter have done such a piss poor job of upholding it's standards and goals as an organization that their own sorors are upset with this c apter had represented themselves. They thought that they did a good job in selecting new members and to be kicked in the ass the way that they have hurts. I know because I talk to two of them on a regular basis. To those of you who say that these girls or even me for that matter are bitter for what ever reason are wrong to say so. They(we) are speaking from experience and are truly hurt that an organizatioin that they(we) have had so much faith in treated them(us) like trash. I am not bitter about wha has happened to me here at Wilberforce because I will be a Delta in the next year and a half and my question is how many of Beta chapter members will still be active when I do? I am upset and disappointed in that this chapter has turned down and rejecte so many qualified candidates because they didn't like the way that she looked, who her friends were and other personal things. If someone doesn't find out what happened to the Spr.99 line soon (which should have been no less than 15 girls), and why ther might not be a Spr.00 line then the 10 founding memebers of Beta Chapter was all in vain. Sincerly, One Who Cares About Delta.

none of your bussiness - 11/15/99 04:28:17
My Email:keeping_it_real@hotmail.com

Comments:
Frist of all i just want to say that DST is the greatest organization in the world!! There is no other that can compare to it. But when it comes to Beta chapter they need a lot of work. Beta chapter use to be off the hook, the ladies had class to there elfs, and they never let there bussiness get on the campus, and not crossing a line yeah right, never heard of. But I guess they should of watch who they picked up!!! Beta chapther has not been the same since sping 95 has left. I have not seen a beauti ul successful, well dress, putting there chapter (beta) frist befour they put there men frist. But nevertheless DSt is still the greates even if you have some bad apples such as Malina Hall, Wilemnia Gripper. The sad thing is that i never thought i wou d see Beta go down the it is. You have the never to walk around and don;t speak to people because they don;t want to take your shit!! i have not problem for working for anything but you think I am about to disrespect myself, my God for three letters thin again!!!!! It is so sad that nobody has anything positive to say about Beta. O just had a positve thought Emffany Holmes: she is the best!! she is a hard worker but she can not do it all by her self!!!! Yes she had a child, but she is one of the best m ther I have seen. She is a good student, and a leader yall need to follow her in her foot steps. Yes, there a lot of ladies interested in DST but due to the fact that positive messages are not being portrayed throughout the campus ladies are slowly ch nging their minds. Lack of respect and love for themselves and others has change a lot of people minds. Personally, they have missed out on 3 generations of lines that were supposed to cross since Spring 98 that were tight as hell and they know it. But people don't have the time to put up with that mess. And don't see one of them on campus because they are fake and don't speak. When it is their week they are all in your face and when it is finished they go back to acting funny. The organization is g ing down and they need a serious jump start kit as soon as possible. And I can comment on the fact that the negative influences are coming from Malima Hall and Wilemnia Gripper. Them two are like two mad physcos running around campus. Just keeping it r al!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, Emffany Holmes is a true stature of what a woman, mother, friend, student, and last but not least but a real Delta woman is all about. And they rest of you need to pay attention and take notes. It's unfortunate that this person feels that way, but it is also unfortunate that person has let bitterness and jealousy blind their vision. I have also been on this campus for awhile and have witnessed the comings and goings, and it is my own opinion that no other sorority can or will ever compare to that of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Beta Chapter. To say, (and I quote this directly, misspelled words and all) "so far I have seen people that do not and can't uph ld th se responsibilities...If you ask me your not role models your just people that did it for the name and not the meaning behind the name"...is to say that you feel that some of the most influential women of our time (i.e. Dr.Betty Shabazz, Marian Wright Ede man, Mary McLeod Bethune, and Barbara Jordan, who just so happen to be members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated) did nothing for our people. Everything that I have been able to witness has shown me that Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated Beta Chapter included, is more than a social group, they have made a commitment to serve than to socialize. That commitment involves not only Community Awareness and Upliftment, but also SELF-Awareness and the Upliftment of SELF. From Depression-Screen ngs, AIDS Awareness,Voter registration, not to mention The Gong Show, programs on this campus that give the student body a chance to learn something about themselves and have some entertainment on the side is far and in between. In closing, human beings weren't put on this earth judge other human beings, so in your judgment of the Motherís of Beta and it's other members is not your place. It is obvious to me that you have not taken the chance get to know any of the ladies of Bet Chapter, because if you did, you would know that they are the epitome of exactly what Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated prides itself on....Finer Womanhood & Sisterhood.

Jessica C. I first fell in love with the rich history of DST and how the 22 dynamic founders step out on faith and build an organization of sisterhood. I must admit that my first reaction is to say negative things about Beta chapter but that will not let me or dozens of other females on Wilberforce's campus feel any better. But I well say this about the members on Wilberforce's campus reach out to this oung ladies who apparently look up to you...don't brush them off (you never know who you affect). From my understanding sisterhood is about caring and not BS. Sisterhood is suppose to lift you up when you are down and encourage you till the ends of the earth. Beta shows no unity on the outside so me personal do not want to deal the inside. I understand the young ladies frustration because I too was once in her shoes with Beta. I didn't want the organization for the letters, popularity or just to step. I wanted and still want the organization because DST is a vehicle for young black educat d women like myself. So many young ladies fell through the loophole of being turned off by beta that they do no realize what they are really doing it for. My question is this to Beta what is going to happen after the four or five members graduate this winter and spring. Do you want beta's legacy to continue or do you want it to die off like the fac., staff, and administrators want it to do. SPR '99/'00 do you know where your line is at? Signed Burned once but not twice! P.S. I will still pursue my endeavors with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. (grad that is) because no other sorority can top the heart of a DELTA!

Kim Taylor McKinney - 11/10/99 18:45:30
My Email:Delta36@webtv.net
Name: Kim
Email: Delta36@webtv.net

Comments:
To the females with all of the negativity towards the young ladies of BETA chapter. First of all, let me say that I am overwhelmed by your insensitivity, ignorance and lack of knowledge about a situation for which you have NO first hand experience with. If you females would think about what's going on, you would realize that you are on the outside guessing about the inside. It is hard to believe that you all would go public with your half baked ideas and knowledge about BETA business. I am not suggest ng that you have not seen inappropriate behaviors and actions, but you must realize that they are a part of life! If you do not condone such activity, and if you are not "impressed" with the Delta's at WU then why are you taking up space in our guess bo k! In the real world, when you GROW UP and finish school, you will be held accountable for your actions. Anonyminity will get you no where. If you had valid grips and genuine concerns for Beta Chapter, You would have been adult enough to approach a mem er on campus with your issues. If you think organizations are perfect with perfect people as members, then you all have not learned anything at WU!!!! And believe it or not, pledging gives a lot of insight to what the PRESSURES of life, love , work and the true pursuit of happiness are all about, but because you are too afraid to step up to the plate, you sit on the side lines of life, hiding behind the coach, and try to call the plays..... show yourselves and better yet, make a difference. If you are not interested in DELTA SIGMA THE A, BETA, squash it, and stop bringing that negative spirit to our web site. If the chapter is so foul, then why are bringing the noise and more pain??? If you are interested maybe you can make a difference!

- 11/10/99 18:07:00
My Email:delta36@webtv.net
Name: Kim Taylor McKinney

Comments:
Greetings sorors! I am seeking assistance in doing some research. I recently purchased a suitcase full of photos, letters, an acedemic hood, clippings, postacards, tec that evidently belonged to a woman named JOSEPHINE WASHINGTON. It appears she was the Dean of Women at Wilberforce back in the 1920s. I even have her opassport, which states sghe was born in 1861. It appears, by some of the letters included, tyhat she might have been related to a minister named A.J. Allen who was associ ted with the Payne AME church in Connelsville, PA. around 1919. Can anyone help me with some more info about this lady. There is a letter from DST inviting her to become an honorary member of the Beta Chapter, dated February 10, 1915. It is signed by Marg erite Glass, Secretary. Does anyone collect Delta memorabilia? Any help would be greatly appreciated. God bless. Yes, the girls at wilberforce do give DST( beta chapter) to much credit but as the other young lady spoke about, that message was not only to that particular c apter but to all as well. Now I wonder myself " where or what happened to spring line 99 also ", but I am not a delta, so I will leave that to them to figure out. Just know sometimes you have to kiss ass in this world to make it to the top. Graciousness t the woman who does makes that change to stop hazing, and base her line on mentality "(brains)", that is what really matters. So, maybe she wasn't jockng beta, maybe they did deserve a little credit but only to a certain extent. If delta is what you young ladies want to do, or be, go for it because god knows you need a big line this year. So to the deltas at wilberforce, pick up these girls, quit acting like you were deltas all yah lives!

- 11/03/99 04:42:49

Comments:
I would like to say that there are alot of people here at Wilberforce University that are interested in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, but some people will never come out and tell you due to the negetive feedback they have been receiving from others, for ins ance, Malima Hall and Vashon Christian. During my time here at Wilberforce I have noticed that DST is supposted to be based on Christian fundamentals, respect, and womanhood. I have not seen any of that. So far I have seen people that do not and can't uph ld those responsibilities. Many of you have children out of wedlock, don't respect others and halfway respect yourselves. If you ask me your not rolemodels your just people that did it for the name and not the meaning behind the name. Majority of the facu ty and staff that are members of Delta don't even like you, so how do you expect any students to be motivated to get to know you. If you want to know why nobody gives a damn its because nobody does. I cannot find myself sacraficing everything I live for o be sisters with someone who doesn't give a rats ass about me or themselves. I don't care if your Beta chapter or not. So many people give up their friends for this crap and it really doesn't do a damn thing. Honestly, the only thing I think Delta's on t is yard are good for is stepping and nothing else. Your barely seen on the yard and you don't do much for the student body. Until things change within your organization you'll never be respected by others and eventually you'll be wiped off of the campus o Wilberforce University.

- 11/03/99 03:09:29

Comments:
I think that some of these people need to quick Jocking the Deltas at Wilberforce, because they are not all of that!
